Bridge Challenge

The Michigan Bridge Challenge requires teams of 3. When you register, you can list the members of your team if you know other students that are signing up, or you can come to the class without a team and we will form teams during our meetings.
The 2026 Bridge Challenge was held at the Amway Grand Hotel downtown Grand Rapids on April 14, 2026.
Refund Policy:If a class has insufficient students, you will be refunded for the whole class.
Class Description:
The goal of this class is to prepare teams of 3 to compete at the 2027 TRAC Michigan Bridge Challenge. Each team of 3 students needs to compete in one of the following grade level bands: 7th-8th, 9th-10th, or 11th-12th. The type of bridge built by each grade category is different but the competition is a great mix of writing, speaking, and building. Each team will create a business proposal that is at least 10+ pages containing the data that they used to design their bridge and CAD drawings that they learned how to produced of their bridge. Then they will present a business pitch virtually in front of judges to sell their idea. By completing the paper, they are invited to stay overnight at the Amway Grand Hotel (location sometimes varies) for free. Each team will bring a balsa wood bridge that they built to the competition to complete with other to teams from around the state.
